Following the devastating floods of the Indus and its tributaries during summer 2010, CFAN applied its hydrologic forecasting system to the Indus basin and included a new inundation model to predict the extent and locations of the flooding.

Rainfall forecasts, based on the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) system for 2010 and 2012, provide an accurate depiction of the future rainfall 8-10 days ahead of the flooding. In 2012, a new hydro-meteorological model was developed and used for the prediction of stream flow in the Indus and its tributaries; the new model gave 10-day notice of the September floods.
